I'm looking for new IOS for my switch 2950 and 2960 from cisco site and the latest still be 12.2xx. While looking at the router, the IOS software is going to 15.0xx. Could anybody help to clarify the difference between IOS switch and router train? and does anyone know the summarize of software EOS/EOL date in the Cisco site?

Thank you very much in advance for your attention.

Hello Iam,

IOS numbering is subjective/platform dependent

on GSR or a C7200 there are current IOS releases that are in 12.0S train so you should not expect all devices to use 15.0M

This does not mean that 12.0(33)S on GSR 12000 is old or not good for service provider environment

12.2(53)Sx are the current for LAN switches

note that 15.0M requires more RAM memory then 12.4T

Hope to help

Giuseppe
