Weird 2503 TFTP Upgrade Fails from Boot Prompt (boot)

Unanswered Question

I have 7 or so routers (five 2501/five 2503) that are in boot mode ie. R1(boot)#

The error is associated to not having an IOS in Flash or IOS wrong version in Flash?

My goal is to upgrade (install) a working 2501 ISO to all of them via TFTP to Ethernet Port which I have managed to do successfully except for the (2) 2503s by configuring E0 with IP and issuing copy tftp flash command.

The problem with the 2503s is that although I can configure e0 with an ip, there is no copy flash command!!! (copy ? produces copy flh.log)

Since the upgrade works with the 2501 bootstrap image that loads successfully prior to IOS I assume this to be the difference between the 2501 and 2503 copy commands???

Any help plz

Also Can I use an image from a working 2501 router (c2500-c-l.120-4.bin) onto a 2503?

I have this problem too.

I have to warn you that the 2500 series are very very slow.  If you are using them for lab 2600 are pretty cheap on Ebay.

Thanks for the tip, I am trying to fix a bunch and then upgrade at later date  - just working (or not) with what I got

Reza, please verify / help if you can then I give up ( i spent few hours now with no luck) but much abliged

If this is my output:

r1(boot)#sh version
Cisco Internetwork Operating System Software
IOS (tm) 3000 Bootstrap Software (IGS-BOOT-R), Version 11.0(10c)XB2, PLATFORM SP

and I am in (boot)# prompt

but cant copy/verify/sh flash (IOS) or ROM (Bootstrap)

Wtf do I do but most importantly How? - I tried everything so far

Hi John,

The image is the same for all 2500 series, so once you upgrade your bootstrap image to eable the copy command, you should be able to copy an image from a 2501 to 2503.
