Cat4K Sup6-E Backplane vs PPS

Anyone know how to relate the backplane (320Gbps Full Duplex) and PPS (250Mpps) figures for Cat4K Sup6-E?

In theroy, 1Gbps (Half Duplex) had 1.488Mpps or 1.5Mpps for quick calculation.

320Gbps Full Duplex shall have max 240Mpps. Why 250Mpps? In Dual Sup environment?

Hi,

320Gbps represents the max capacity of the fabric and 250Mpps is the max number of packets the SUP can handle.

So it just means the SUP can handle more than the fabric. In this case 240Mpps is the max you will be able to achieve as the fabric is the limiting factor here.

If pps is limited by the fabric, I wonder how to achieve 250Mpps when Sup6-E is used in Cat4510R-E as stated in datasheet.

In theory,

Sup: 2 x 10GE

24G Slot: 5 x 24GE

6G Slot: 3 x 6GE

Max pps = (20 + 120 + 18) x 1.5 = 237 Mpps. How to get 13 Mpps more performance?

You can't with the current fabric.
