We have just build our Unified Presence server with the end goal of rolling out Presense/CUPC to all end users. Based on what I am reading in the cisco documentation it looks like we will need to integrate with our microsoft AD. Is that the case? Also, will this require schema changes?
Any feedback to give me a better understanding of what will be required on the exchange side would be great.
Technicall speaking, you don't need AD to use CUPS/CUPC.
In fact, if you don't use AD with CUPS/CUPC, you'll miss lots of features.
There's no schema extension even if you decided to use AD with CUPS/CUPC.
You do need LDAP for Presence, yes... so you will interface to AD.
The basic requirement is that each user must have an attribute in AD that matches their user ID in CallManager exactly.
The CUPC clients will have a common service account (which is a standard, non-admin user) which they use to search AD.
There is no requirement to extend the schema.
