Hello,

We have an 1841 router with a serial link of 2Mbps for internet leased line.

Now we are upgrading the internet bandwidth to 12 Mbps. The service provider is giving it on FastEthernet interface.

Can i use the same router for the purpose???

What is the maximum WAN bandwidth supported by 1841?? Where (or How) can we find the bandwidth limitation (or backplane capacity) of a particular series of router?? Thanks for any guidance....

Hi,

Maximum throughput on an 1841 is 38.40Mbps, thats with no acls, basically nothing running on it of IP routing.check out the below link  for more info:-

Router sizing document attached showing clearly that you can go ahead with 1841 with proposed 12Mbps WAN link

Vaib,..

Thanks for ur response...

But i couldnot find in the link provided by u,  that 1841 has a Maximum throughput of 38 Mbps???

Instead it says up to "single T1/E1/xDSL speeds"!!!

Q. What is the performance of the Cisco 1841?
A. The Cisco 1841 is a new-generation, best-in-class router platform  designed to deliver multiple concurrent services at wire-speed  performance up to single T1/E1/xDSL speeds. Chassis performance has been  increased up to five-fold, and security performance increased up to  seven-fold compared to the Cisco 1700 Series. The single T1/E1/xDSL  value quoted here represents IMIX packet sizes in higher-than-typical  Cisco 1841 services configurations. In less service-heavy environments,  actual WAN throughput
will be higher.
Can u pls clarify...
