how to make router 7200 load other IOS on startup?

Hi,

Have a router 7200 with IOS version 12.4(24)T2.  Now standards here require version 12.4 (15)T8.

for some reason I'm not able to make the router boot with version (15)T8.

some info:

sh bootflash gives version 12.4(24)T2

sh disk2: gives both IOS versions

config:

boot system flash 12.4(15)T8

boot system disk2:

boot config disk2: 12.4(15)T8

I would expect he loads 12.4(15)T8 but not.

Tried to copy from Disk2 to bootflash but he doesn't ask me which filename...

Tried a lot but can't get the right image loaded ... :-(

Any suggestions

thanks,

Peter

I verified the output from the disk2 and noticed the file size from (15)T8

7KB is not a complete download. Please download the file once again and copy it to disk2.

Please show the output of dir all-files.

Can't paste apparently so in attach

Hi:

Go into global config mode and

First, remove all existing boot statements with 'no' negation. Verify by doing a sh boot and sh run.

Second, enter the following command boot system disk2:c7200p-boot-mz.124-15.T8.bin. Then verify by doing a sh boot and sh run.

Lastly, make sure your config register is set to 0x2102 by doing a sh ver.

Save config and reboot.

Victor

Second, enter the following command boot system disk2:c7200p-boot-mz.124-15.T8.bin.

You mean

boot system disk2:7200p-advipservicesk9-mz.124-15.T8.bin

Edison, exactly. I just realized that I copied and pasted the wrong line. When I came back to correct myself, I saw your post. Good catch.

disk2:c7200p-advipservicesk9-mz.124-15.T8.bin

Hi,

followed your instructions by removing in the config but it was still there in show bootflash and disk2.

Started router and saw error in attach

Accoring to me I shoudl get version in bootflash: but I don't know how (because if I know do show bootflash it gevies still not 12.4(15)T8/

Thanks for your help

The file size shown here would indicate that your c7200p-advipservicesk9-mz.124-15.T8.bin image is only partial or corrupt.  Delete that one and re-download it.  Then run a verify on it to make sure it is clean.  That's why it can't load it.

Thanks guys, indeed not complete ios.
