Hi,

recently i got my AS number 196921. But in Router when ever i issue the command: router bgp?--> it shows only 1-65535.

Can someone suggest me how to enable this AS number 196921 to my Router?

The IOS that i am using it supports 4-Byte AS number.

Rgds,

Partha

Your BGP : 196921 is in plain notation, converting to asdot:

What model router and what version of IOS are you running?

Victor

I am using 7609-S Router having IOS 12.2.33 SRE1.

Rgds,

Hello Partha,

according to cisco feature navigator BGP 4 byte AS number should be supported on several 12.2(33)SRE1 IOS images if you have a sup720 or an RSP 720 or a Sup 32

http://www.cisco.com/go/fn

search by feature : BGP support for 4-byte ASN

so your question is wise

the configuration may need to use a dotted notation like

router bgp x.y

so you need to calculate x and y so that x*65536 + y = ASN

this is called AS DOT notation

see

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/iosswrel/ps6537/ps6554/ps6599/4byte_asnios.pdf

Hope to help
