UCS - IPMI - vCenter - How to speed up boot?

I have enabled IPMI on the UCS so that vCenter can power down/up the blades based on performance needs.

It works great.  The blades get powered off when the utilization is low and then powered on when the utiltization increases.

My only issue is the time it takes for the blades to boot ESXi 4.0 (around 7 minutes). The time seems mostly to be prior to the actual bootingof ESXI.

The only two boot options I have enabled for my blades is CDROM and Harddrive.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to speed up the boot process?

Or is there a way for the blade to go into standby instead of actually powering off?

Kris

Watch out for the IPMI MAC address issue, https://supportforums.cisco.com/docs/DOC-8582, I think Aptos+ release fixes this real soon now...
