Hi
I am trying to recover password on 1800 series router. I am following the Sequence as per Cisco using SecureCRT and when I do I cannot get into ROMmon. I also tried using Hyperterminal. Any help would be appreciated

Hello,
Are you able to issue the break command?? Personally, I'd use hyperterminal, but you can use any terminal program you'd like.
Cntrl + Pause|Break key on keyboard will break out into ROMMON, but make sure you issue the break early in the boot sequence, before it starts to load the IOS.
Set config register to ignore startup config: confreg 0x2142
reset router : reset

I am not able to issue the Break Commad. I checked with a Ciosco 800 Series just to make sure my terminal program was working and it does?

Try the procedure in this doc to simulate a break sequence -

Try this:
1. Power off the router;
2. Pop the Compact Flash (CF) and USB flash drives;
3. Power ON the router;
Due to the absence of the CF, the router should boot into ROMMON.
4. Enter the command "confreg 0x2142";
5. Insert the CF (which should contain a valid IOS);
6. Enter the command "reset";
7. After the router successfully reboots, copy the startup config to the running config using the command "copy start run";
8. Change the password desired; and finally
9. Don't forget to change the registry using the command "config-registry 0x2102".
10. Save your config.
