I have two Cisco 4506-e with the X2-10GB-SR modules that i would like to connect using fiber. They are less then 10 ft apart. Is there any "special" cable requirements other than both end have an SC to SC connector type? Can the core size be 62.5 or does it have to be 50.0?

50 and 62.5 is supported.

If the entire length of the fibre optic cable is, for example, 50 microns, then it should be ok. You'll see issues when you have 50 micron patch cords connected to building fibres of 62.5 (or vice versa).
Other than that, it should be fine.
