Moving CUE

Hi,

We are moving from Call Manager 4 to CME 7. We will be configuring the new 3825 router with CME and also moving CUE from the old 3825 to the new 3825.

My question is - Will we be able to retain the current configuration and voicemails? Or will everything have to be reconfigured and the mailboxes recreated?

and - is this the only configuration needed:

interface Service-Engine1/0
ip unnumbered GigabitEthernet0/0
service-module ip address 10.71.48.15 255.255.252.0
service-module ip default-gateway 10.71.48.5

Thanks for the help!

Nate

Hi Nate,

The main thing here is that you will need will need to re-build the whole configuration

(including licenses) due to the fact you are moving from CUCM to CME Here is the

related note;

Note: There is no method to convert or back up and restore from a Cisco CallManager Express integrated with Cisco Unity Express to a Cisco CallManager integrated with Cisco Unity Express or vice versa. The card must be re-imaged. This means that you must reapply the software and license, and all the configuration and data, which includes voice mail messages, are lost.

Hope this helps!

Hello Nate,

Regarding the voice mails and CUE configuration you can do a backup of all of them and restore them to the the CUE without any issue, this is the procedure for that:

GUI Process:

CLI Process:

Hey Walter,

I didn't think you could do this when moving from CCM to CME

or vise-versa? This seems to be the path that Nate requires.

Cheers!

Rob

Rob,

There is no way to migrate the configuration from you CUCM to your CME, but there is a part of the question if I don't mistake that he asked he can move the configuration from one CUE that has in a 3825 to another one

Rob & Walter,

Last night we did the transition to the new 3825 with CME. We backed up CUE from the old 3825, removed the module, and installed it in the new 3825 with CME on it. We had to clear the arp table cache on the switch since the MAC changed, but everything worked! We retained all of our configuration, settings, prompts, scripts, users, mailboxes and voicemails.

I just figured I'd let you know it did actually work!

Thanks again,

Nate
