1242 AP User Load

Hello All,

Can some one tell me what the actual user load of a Cisco 1242 AP is?  I am tasked to do a predictive survey for a college and they have classrooms that seat min 50, lecture halls that seat min 70, and a auditorium that seats a min of 200.

I typically go with the 15-25 range and design around the middle or 20 users per AP.  But, I am not sure if this number is too high or low ... I have read that 12 is the number but I just can't see put 16 APs in one auditorium ... seems overkill to the RF environment to me!

Any suggestions would be great!

Thanks,

M. Johnson

An access point can support up to 1,024 users.  Cisco recommends no more than 25 users.  Understand that wireless is like a hub:  When one talks everyone else has to stop and listen.
