Cisco 6500 support LACP & PaGP on the same module?

Hi Sir ...

We had experienced same problem on configing etherchannel. Now we are preparing the configuration about etherchannel on 6500 chassis. But, some paper tell us that Cisco4000 series donot support LACP & PaGP on the module. Is it real?

By the way, Cisco 6509 or IOS could allow engineer config etherchannel LACP & PaGP on this same Giga ethernet module? or TenG Module?

Thanks You!

sean

Hi sean,

Both 6500 and 4500 support Etherchannel using LACP and PAGP. You can also use 10Gig ports or 1Gig ports.

Hi Sean,

Check out the below link for configuring etherchannel using LACP or PAGP in cisco 6500 and 4000 switches

https://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/switches/lan/catalyst6500/ios/12.1E/native/configuration/guide/channel.html

https://www.cisco.com/en/US/tech/tk389/tk213/technologies_configuration_example09186a0080094470.shtml

Hope to Help !!

Hello Sean,

as Ganesh's links should show some old CatOS based LAN switches allowed to configure the bundling protocol per module/linecard only.

>>

set channelprotocol lacp 3

!--- All ports in module 3 are in LACP channel mode.

This limitation is not present on IOS based C6500 or C4500, so you should be able to have PAGP on bundle1 and LACP on bundle2 with member links that are on ports of the same linecard

Hope to help

Giuseppe
