There is no support for the VWIC-2MFT-E1 on a 3600.  Support is available for the VWIC-2MFT-E1-DI, but with one serial channel group.

Thanks for the reply. After reading the data sheet, i got a clearer understanding. It says i need either NM-1FE2W, NM-1FE1R2W, NM-2FE2W to get one serial channel group for my VWIC-2MFT-E1. Am i right? Meaning to say, if i get one of those WIC, im able to create voice ports?

Another question, my 3640 has a WIC which is in used for WAN and a 12 port vlan-switch network module, i understand i need (NM-1FE2W, NM-1FE1R2W, NM-2FE2W) to be able to config voice ports on VWIC-2MFT-E1. Is there any other way to configure to send voice traffic out without voice-port configuration?

That is incorrect. See: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/routers/ps259/products_tech_note09186a00800e73f6.shtml

table "Cisco ICS 7750, 36xx, 37xx, and 38xx Platforms Matrix"

In any case, the 3600 is too old for effiencient voip, but use something newer instead.

For E1 PRI voice configuration, we will need to configure "pri-group" under the E1 controller :

Please refer to the following URL :

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/partner/docs/ios/voice/isdn/configuration/guide/vi_isdn_vi_cfg_ps6350_TSD_Products_Configuration_Guide_Chapter.html#wp1038644

Please note that 3600 is End of Life :

I've only got this from my controller E1

Vertigo(config-controller)#?

Controller configuration commands:

channel-group     Specify the timeslots to channel-group mapping for an

                    interface

clock             Specify the clock source for a DS1 link

default           Set a command to its defaults

  description       Controller specific description

detect            Enable detection of loopback request

exit              Exit from controller configuration mode

framing           Specify the type of Framing on a E1 link

guard-timer       Guard timer (0-20) for xcsp calls - timer duration and

                    accept/reject on expiry

help              Description of the interactive help system

line-termination  Specify the line termination for E1

linecode          Specify the line encoding method for a E1 link

loopback          Put the entire E1 line into loopback

  mode              Configure the controller mode

no                Negate a command or set its defaults

shutdown          Shut down a E1 link (send Blue Alarm)

tdm-group         Configure DS0 group for TDM

Do i need DSP for the voice-ports? Please guide me on what more module i need to get. Thanks!!

Yes, we will need DSP(s) to enable voice functionality.

Please use NM-HDV, VWIC-2MFT-E1 and PVDM modules for E1 PRI in Cisco 3640 :

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/partner/tech/tk652/tk701/technologies_tech_note09186a00800b65d6.shtml

Also, if this router is for production network please note that Cisco 3640 is End of Life / Support. For production use, please consider ISR (18xx/28xx/38xx) or ISR-G2 (19xx/29xx/39xx).

I have no idea with what you are designing or what you are achieving but I can tell you this:  I will never, ever, design  voice/fax systems built around a 3600:  It's too slow for current VoIP and hardware support is very difficult.

Supporting a legacy system would be financially un-sound.
