7914 on 7960 - lights to show if ext is on the line

Running Call Manager Business Edition  7

We have 7960 phones with 7914 expansion units.

They have been setup with ext numbers and names but is there any way that we can get the buttons to light up when an ext is on the phone.

That way our receptionist can advise the caller that they will go to voicemail and can leave a message or they can call back

Thanks in advance

Not with the 7914. The newer side cars / expansion modules do support buttons that light based on various parameters. For remote line in use, it glows red while the line is in use (for example). one such sidecar is the 7915. It is not compatible with the 7960 however.

Hi Jenny,

Bill is probably right ...but I could have sworn

If these are "shared lines" that are on both the Primary user phones

and a button on the 7914 as well, they should light Red when then

user is on their appearance of the "shared line".

Have you tried changing the Privacy setting on the user's

phone configuration page?

Cheers!

Rob

+5 to Rob you can get the lights to work if you set them up as shared lines.  This will give you the following information on the lights:

Lighted Buttonsā€”14 buttons. Each button corresponds to one line (just like on the Cisco IP Phone). The lights beneath each button indicate the state of the corresponding line as follows:

Line available: light off

Line in use by you: steady green light

Line in use by someone else: steady red light

Line ringing: flashing amber light

You have a call on hold: flashing green light

Someone else has a call on hold: flashing red light

Call transfer: steady green light

From the 7914 guide:  http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/cuipph/7914/4_1_3/english/user/guide/14qsbar.pdf

Hey Bud & Bill,

Thanks to both of you for weighing in on this +5 each my friends.

It's been awhile for me to setup this config so I was going to try it in the

lab later on. But now you've freed me up to do other tasks (which one of the

other 39,437 to do now ...hahahaha!!)

Bill ...no -5 for you buddy, you deserve +500 for all your hard work here!

Cheers!
