Switch performance

We are facing inconsistent latency in the switched network. One probable reason could be recalculation of STP due to some unknown reason.

Another reason, there could be problem with the servers those are under consideration.

So we need to generate a traffic from the same VLAN as those of servers and then send that traffic to users vlan.  Do we have any free-ware tool available that will generate traffic from that host machine as source and one target IP. We can generate this traffic and measure the speed with which we are able to transfer the data from server VLAN to user VLAN with this we can be  sure if there is any performance issue with switched network.

Please share the experience or suggest to isolate the problem.

Iperf is a commonly used free tool that allows you to generate traffic between 2 devices -

Linux version -
