What is the line card on the 6500 connected to the C3560e switch. "show module".

On the 3560E, the system MTU range is from 1500 to 9198 bytes. The max is 9198 byte. Use the "system mtu jumbo" globally to change it.

On the 6500 the following switching modules do not support Jumbo frame. When jumbo frame support is configured, these modules drop ingress frames larger than 8092 bytes

• WS-X6516-GE-TX when operating at 100 Mbps

• WS-X6148-RJ-45, WS-X6148-RJ-45V and WS-X6148-RJ21, WS-X6148-RJ21V

• WS-X6248-RJ-45 and WS-X6248-TEL

• WS-X6248A-RJ-45 and WS-X6248A-TEL •

  WS-X6348-RJ-45, WS-X6348-RJ45V and WS-X6348-RJ-21, WX-X6348-RJ21V, WS-X6548-GE-TX, WS-X6548V-GE-TX, WS-X6148-GE-TX, and WS-  X6148V-GE-TX "

post "show module" to identify what card you have on the Cat 6500.

Francisco.

WS-X67xx cards does support Jumbo frame up to 9000 bytes. Max is 9216 bytes per frame

hi

3560E is connected using WS-X6724-SFP

Mod Ports Card Type                              Model              Serial No.

--- ----- -------------------------------------- ------------------ -----------

  1   24  CEF720 24 port 1000mb SFP              WS-X6724-SFP

  2   24  CEF720 24 port 1000mb SFP              WS-X6724-SFP

  4   48  CEF720 48 port 10/100/1000mb Ethernet  WS-X6748-GE-TX

  5    5  Supervisor Engine 720 10GE (Active)    VS-S720-10G

  7    4  CEF720 4 port 10-Gigabit Ethernet      WS-X6704-10GE

Mod  Sub-Module                  Model              Serial       Hw     Status

---- --------------------------- ------------------ ----------- ------- -------

  1  Distributed Forwarding    Card WS-F6700-DFC3C

  2  Distributed Forwarding     Card WS-F6700-DFC3C

  4  Distributed Forwarding     Card WS-F6700-DFC3C

  5  Policy Feature Card 3       VS-F6K-PFC3C

  5  MSFC3 Daughterboard         VS-F6K-MSFC3

  7  Distributed Forwarding      Card WS-F6700-DFC3C

On the 3560E, you can set system MTU range between 1500 to 9198 bytes by use the "system mtu jumbo" command.

On the 6500 the WS-X6724-SFP line card the maximum frame size is 9216 bytes.

Hope to help..

Hi,

The default MTU size is 9216 bytes after you enable jumbo frame support on the individual port for 6500 series switches and for 3560 switches All Gigabit Ethernet interfaces support jumbo frames up to 9000 bytes.

Check out the below link for more information on Jumbo frame configuration on switches

Hope to Help !!
