We had to change our Route Patterns on Call Manager because of too many users dialing 911 on accident. We changed the number to get an outside line from a 9 to a 3 but have been told by a outside vendor that some of our translation patterns will not functions since Call Manager won't recognize the 3 before the NANP patterns.
Why would Call Manager care what number you dial to get an outside line as long as the router was configured correctly? I am having a hard time beleiving the vendor and would like some clarification on what numbers can and cannot be used to dial an outside line.
Here are the current patterns with 3 as the prefix to get an outside line:

Of course CM doesn't care which numbers you use.
Time to switch vendor perhaps.

OK. Maybe we are dealing with a misunderstanding here. You showed us your route patterns but not the translation patterns. Perhaps, the vendor was trying to point out that you may have translation patterns that will be impacted by your choice of leading digit...then again, it could be BS. But, out of curiousity - what do your translation patterns look like? And, another curiousity question is - why the choice of 3? The typical choice of outside access digits are 9 or 8 (not to say others aren't used) but just wondering.

I agree that the common digits are 8 or 9; however, our upper management
thought it be best to use a digit further away from the 9 button. Don't
laugh!!! We have no translation patterns that would affect outside dialing.
