Accessing the Internet with the 871 router

We are unable to access the Internet with the 871 Cisco router.

The issue is that our internal network is unable to connect to the Internet.

The setup:

One host is connected to f0

The modem is connected to F4

The modem is connected  to the Internet.

The configurations

There are two configurations the first configuration has no pppoe and the second one we added the pppoe in order to connect to the internet. The first with no pppoe worked after we added the following lines:

Router(config)# Access-list 2 permit any

Int f4

Router(config-if)# ip access-group 2 out

Now we want the second configuration with ppoei to work.

We followed the Cisco documentation : http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/routers/access/800/850/software/configuration/guide/pppoenat.html

After following these steps nothing seems to work…..

Nat and pppoe are properly configured.

Testing:

From the host we can ping to the f4.

From the host to the internet we are not able to ping

From the router to the host we are able to ping

From the router to the ISP we are able to ping

The configurations are in the .txt file

Any ideals why this isn’t working?

Thanks

hi

Are you able to resolve the hosts from your machine? can you try nslookup from command prompt and try resolving the web addresses.

this will help you to proceed to next step of troubleshooting.

Once you are done with resolving the web address and still if you arent able to access internet try doing a trace to a web address and check where the same is getting stuck.

Hi,

Try to debug pppoe events and debug ppp authentication, make sure you are being authenticated.  Clean up a bit the configuration, for example, on FE4 use only 'pppoe  enable', remove all the ip virtual-reasembly and select the authention type for example only PAP or CHAP.
