We have a UC520 connected to a AT&T SIP trunk and have a fax machine connected to one of the FXS ports.  We are able to send faxes but we can't receive faxes.  Here is what I have in the config file:

Can anyone see a problem with this config?

Do you get a busy tone when calling in? Can you try removing dial-peer 1?

When calling the fax number (0741) the following happens:

1. The fax machine answers the call,

2. The fax handshake tone begins and then immediately ends for a second,

3. The fax handshake tone begins again for a 10-15 seconds then

4. The fax machines issues a com error.

I'll remove dial peer 1and see what happens.

Thanks,

We took out the dial-peer voice 1 pots  and the result is the same (no inbound fax).  The receiving fax machine states - "no fax detected".  Any other suggestions would be helpful.

Thanks

Hi,

Sounds to me that you are having a SIP/2.0 488 isuee, can you please show us the "deb ccsip messages" and "deb ccsip media" when attemping to receive a fax?

To Just give a shoot, I will try the following commands:

en
conf ter
voice service voip
fax protocol t38 version 0 ls-redundancy 0 hs-redundancy 0 fallback pass-through g711ulaw
end
wr

The Syntax: fax protocol {t38 [nse [force]]   [ls-redundancy value [hs-redundancy value]] [fallback {cisco | none | pass-through {g711ulaw | g711alaw}}]} is documented in http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/ios/12_2t/12_2t13/feature/guide/ftsihfax.html#wp1006806

also if the fax rate disable is configured neither the originating nor the terminating gateway can enter into Cisco fax relay mode, T.38 fax relay mode, or fax pass-through mode. The fax rate disable  disables fax transfer support.

thanks,
Victor.-
