BGP bug ??

Hello,

I am running eBGP between 2 routers, and I just spot the below on the logs:

Router1:Cisco 7200 "disk2:c7200-jk9s-mz.123-17b.bin"

Why BGP neighbour session comes up but I still got the error message : %TCP-6-BADAUTH: No MD5 digest from YY.YY.UU.OO(179) to XX.XX.CC.SS(45341) ?? And BGP session was establised when this message appeared.

Any idea? I know it's weird but it's Cisco

Hello Melanie,

are you using MD5 on the BGP session or not?

if you are not using it and the 880G is not configured for MD5 authentication it should not expect a 16 bytes MD5 signature in received messages

Hi Giuseppe,

Yeah I am using md5 on both of these routers. If I was using only md5 on one of these routers, my bgp session will never comes up. That's why it's weird, I am using md5 password on bothe of these routers, BGP is established and works fine but just after I got this MD5 message in teh logs with still BGP fully working.
