hi,
Its possible to drop prefix update that exceeds specified threshhold on BGP , once the router drops the exceeded threshhold, a syslog message is generated on would either be sent to a syslog server or to the router buffer.

Hi,
snmp-server enable traps bgp [state-changes [all] [backward-trans] [limited] | threshold prefix]
together with MaximMaximum-Prefix Configured for Warning-Only
might be the solution, see
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/customer/docs/ios/netmgmt/command/reference/nm_18.html#wp1012610
and
