Hi,
I have 6509 that runs on VSS with NAM modules. My question is: do i need to assign different IP address to these NAM modules installed on 2 different switches?
Whether Active/Standby scenario can be achieved with NAM?

Hello Acharyr123,
in the following document about service modules in VSS NAM is not listed
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/ps9336/products_tech_note09186a0080a7c72b.shtml
in any case:
in VSS traffic can flow in both member chassis, each NAM should capture traffic of the local chassis or you will end up with filling the VSS link with traffic that needs to be sent to NAM
So I would see an active/active scenario as possible.
the problem would be that one NAM could capture the flow in one direction and the other direction could capture in the other direction
so yes an active/standby scenario with eventually a bigger pipe on the VSS link is to be preferred
Edit:
I still don't find a reference for VSS in NAM documentation
are they working?
Hope to help
Giuseppe

I see that there is a section about NAM or NAM2 blade in VSS
Best Regards
