This may sound like a funny question but is TACACS+ free?
I used TACACS+ in the past (full version with the GUI) but I was not involved in the purchasing... I am seeing a number of sites that provide TACACS for free but I am not sure if it's the full version with all its functions.
Any difference between the MS Windows version vs the UNIX version in terms of Cisco support and availability?

TACACS+ (the protocol) was a proposed IETF standard (see http://tools.ietf.org/html/draft-grant-tacacs-02), and there are free implementations of the protocol available (e.g. the tac_plus daemon at http://www.shrubbery.net/tac_plus/). Whether or not you get all the features you would with Cisco Secure Access Control Server (an implementation of the protocol sold by Cisco) is a different story. Certainly you don't with tac_plus. However, it does provide functional AAA, and it is quite easy to configure and extend.
