Hi
I'm about to do an ACS 4.1 to 4.2 upgrade. The documentation on CCO says
"Note To upgrade to ACS 4.2, you must re-image the appliance. You do not need to use the upgrade package mechanism."
Does that mean the whole 4.1 system is blown away and 4.2 installed as opposed to applying a software patch ? Obviously this would need a backup and restore of the ACS data. Is anyone aware of any issues around this and how long the whole process takes ?
The customer has ordered CSACS4.2-WIN-MR-K9 to do the upgrade.
Thanks, Stephen.

Yes the old 4.1 installation is removed during the 4.2 installation.
The database is upgraded from 4.1 to 4.2 but make a backup for security reason.
The whole process takes less than 10 minutes.
Don't forget to apply the patches for 4.2 (I think the newest is 4.2.1.15).
The patch install is exactly the same as the 4.2 install.
I had no issues during the upgrade.
good luck.

Stevie,
Establishing a serial console connection
Reimaging the appliance using 4.2 recovery CD
Restoring the ACS 4.1 data on appliance
Reimaging the appliance will erases all data on the appliance hard drive.
There is an exception in ACS 4.2 that you can restore the 4.1 configuration/backup/database after upgrading to 4.2.
NOTE: Please take backup before you proceed with upgrade.

Ok, maybe I misunderstood.
I thought it was ACS for Windows not an appliance.
If it's an appliance, I think you got the wrong upgrade.
CSACS4.2-WIN-MR-K9 is for ACS for Windows.
The appliance upgrade is:
CSACSE4.2-SW-MR-K9 Minor Release update for ACS SE 4.2
