WS-x6716-10g-3c

Answered Question

Hello,

I found on the documentation of the WS-X6716-10G-3C that its only works with the 720 supervisor.

But I dont know why the customer told me that somebody at cisco guarantee him that with a ws-sup32-10ge-3b will work.

In my point of view there is no sense configure a 32GB supervisor with a 16 x 10GB card.

any idea?.

Thanks.

I have this problem too.

What exactly is the question ?

All the 67xx modules are fabric only modules ie. they can only connect to the switch fabric and not the shared bus. The sup32 does not provide a connection to the switch fabric so you cannot run 67xx with a sup32.

You can only run 67xx modules with a sup720 version.

The 16-port 10 Gigabit Ethernet module is interoperable with all models of the Cisco Catalyst 6500 Series Virtual Switching Supervisor Engine 720 with 10 Gigabit Ethernet uplinks or Cisco Catalyst 6500 Series Supervisor Engine 720, including VS-S720-10G-3C, VS-S720-10G-3CXL, WS-Sup720, WS-Sup720-3B, and WS-Sup720-3BXL

See this for supported sup cards & chassis.
