qos on module WS-X6704-10GE

Hi

can I get some help on 10g module on cat6500?

I have module ws-x6704-10ge, on two cat6500s, and cat6500s use one of the ports on each site to link to each other.

I have get one advice that the link between two cat6500 should not configure qos because there is the qos buffering shortage problem. Could anyone advice if it is true?

any comments will be appreciated

Hi there!

What do you mean when you are saying QoS? Queueing, policing, shaping...?

Depending on the bandwith, services and if the connection is a L2 or L3, I would recommend to configure there at least some queueing mechanism to give prioritiy to some classes of traffic (e.g. LLQ for VoIP). If you have plenty of bandwidth you don't have to worry about shaping or policing, if you don't need to explicit limit a network class to a certain amount fo bandwidth.

Everything which I said above, is depending where you are using this 2 C6500. WAN or LAN. I would say LAN, but you never now.
