Material for gateways/trunk voip.

Unanswered Question

Hi all experts.

I am new to voip and as i am going through Cvoice, i like to practice material that is given there. Like working with FXS/FXO, E1 cards, setting up trunks etc. I can surely use cisco command reference, but for a starter i would like to use some sort of workbook. Can someone share his/her experience about any material they have covered and feel satisfied regarding the configuration examples ? like setting up T-CCS, MGCP trunks, SIP trunks, and stuff like that. I have seen workbooks covering CME/CUE/ CUCM, and other applications in great depth but i am not able to find any material regarding sole IOS configurations of trunks and interface and different scenarios.

Anyone ?

I have this problem too.

Hello Jon,

I don't know if there is any workbook specific for gateways, my recommendation will be to setup a cool lab on your own or  if you already cover the CUCM part you could try with IP experts or any of the workbooks that are available for the CCIE-V.

Hello,

Rob -- that's a nice PDF document (5 stars).

Jon -- I don't know if you've read the books I mention below. Both provide information about the topics you're searching, configuration examples with figures and case studies. Both books will be of great help (along with the PDF) if you also have in mind getting a CCVP certification. You can give a try:

Cisco Voice Gateways and Gatekeepers

http://www.ciscopress.com/bookstore/product.asp?isbn=158705258X

Cisco Voice over IP (CVOICE) (Authorized Self-Study Guide), 3rd Edition

http://www.ciscopress.com/bookstore/product.asp?isbn=1587055546

Hope it helps.

Kind regards,

-- Adrián.
