Multicast session with ghostserver very slow

Hi,

There is a user that is ghosting an image from a server. When we check multicast of that session we see this:

XXXXX-1001#sh ip mroute act

Active IP Multicast Sources - sending >= 4 kbps

Group: 224.77.7.114, (?)

Source: 1XX.1XX.13.178 (?)  (This is the Ghost server)

     Rate: -164 pps/1939 kbps(1sec), 1939 kbps(last 10 secs), 0 kbps(life avg)

Negative numbers are drops. How can I troubleshoot this problem? Is there a step by step troubleshoot procedure?

This is configured on both vlans (server and client):

ip pim sparse-dense-mode

ip cgmp proxy

thx,

Marc

Hello Marc,

post the complete sh ip mroute active for this group and sh ip mroute one of the two show provides categories of drops (like RPF failure)

This can be a starting point.

Hope to help

Giuseppe

Hello Marc,

>> (1XX.1XX.1X.1XX, 224.77.69.35), 00:09:42/00:02:55, flags: PTA

  Incoming interface: Vlan350, RPF nbr 0.0.0.0, RPF-MFD

  Outgoing interface list: Null

the (S,G) entry is pruned  (P and oilist = null) T = SPT joined , A = source candidate for MSDP advertisement

at the moment of this show there was any interested receiver?

There is another multilayer switch that has won the assert for this source?

It is strange to see the (S,G) listed in sh ip mroute active but pruned unless another device is in charge to send the stream in the Vlan

may you post also

igmp group membership on device with

sh ip igmp groups

Hope to help

Giuseppe
