Dears;

I need a help in the design of Cisco Video Surveillance Solution. As you know we have four softwares for this solutions;

  1. CIVS-VSM Video Surveillance Manager v4.1/6.1 SW
  2. CIVS-MS Media Server v6.1 Software
  3. CIVS-OM Operations Manager v4.1 Software Only w/ SmartSearch
  4. CIVS-VM Virtual Matrix v6.1 Software Only

Are all these four softwares need one hardware server (MSP) or each software needs a separate server. Please advice.

if i have 60 IP cameras and i want to store the videos just for two days, How can i calculate the size of the hard disks and which server of the above software needs these hard disks? what about the size of the hard disks for other software?

i want to know exactly how i do the design.

Thanks;

Kayo

correct me if i'm wrong:

if you use a hd stream with 5Mbit/s per camera:

5Mbit*60seconds*60minutes*24hours*2days*60cams

--> 51.840.000.000.000 Bits --> 6,480 TByte...for CIVS-MS Media Server

I'm using a simple 1 rack server with Suse 10 with 1 TB HDD for my 16 cams... ^^

hope this helps

You can run all the SW on one server but not with that many cameras according to Cisco's VSM quote tool.

Call your Cisco rep for the tool.

If it was me I would have 2 servers. One for VSOM and Virtual Matrix. The other for the media server (encoding all the cameras).

Are you using your own servers?
