Network Modules and 2610XM

Hi All,

I was wondering if anyone can clarify if the NM-1FE2W or NM-2FE2W will work in the 2610XM?

These two pages seems to contradict each other:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/routers/ps259/products_relevant_interfaces_and_modules.html

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/routers/ps259/product_data_sheet09186a00801aa71c.html

I've an option on some 2610XM's cheap for my lab, but I need to have 2FE ports in each. Some people have told me the NM-1FE2W and NM-2FE2W will work in the XM's and some others have said they wont!

Any help would be great.

Thanks in advance.

Kevin

Hi Kevin,

The "Portable Product Sheet - Module Crossref" confirms - no support for NM-1FE2W in the 2600XM routers. The NM-1FE2W is only supported in the 2691, 3620, 3640, 366x, 3725, 3745, 3825, and 3845 routers. The only supported LAN Network Modules in the 2600XMs are the NM-1E, NM-4E, and NM-16EWS. The only supported "WIC Slot Adding Network Modules" in the 2600XMs is/are the NM-2W.

Hope to Help !!

Hi Leo, Ganesh,

Thank you for taking the time to reply to my post.

I'm still none the wiser though!

--Leo,

Table 5 does indeed imply that they will work. But then table 3 implys that they wont!

I think I might have to take a chance and get my hands on one. If all else fails, I can still use it as a BBR.

I'll post back if/when I get a result.

Cheers guys.

Kevin

Hi All,

Just for information, the NM-1FE2W (as expected!) doesn't work in a 2610XM with a 12.4T IOS

The NM-1E's work fine though.

I was in a similar situation. Even if the wireless module(s) are supported, a used 800 series router with built in wireless works out about the same price as just the wireless module.

Wireless modules:

     HWIC-AP-G - $150 (approx.)

     HWIC-AP-AG $169 (approx.)

*prices from eBay - 29/03/2013

Cisco 871W 4-Port 10/100 Wireless Router - $100 + $15 shipping

I ended up buying an 800 series (871w) router.

Hope this helps.
