I have WCS licensed but what do the licenses for the controllers do and do I need it licensed? Also what is a license for Wplus? and do I need that one?

Hi Gary,
Licensing is enforced on the WLC product line. With the 4400 series
of WLC the license was tied directly to the controller size that was
ordered, and could not be updated/upgraded to support a higher number
of AP's
ie;
4402-12 (could support 12 AP's)
4402-25 (could support 25 AP's)
4404-100 (could support 100 AP's)
The new 5500 series can be ordered with a base amount like 12 and
upgraded down the road via a new "License" to support 25,50,100 etc.

Optional Wireless PLUS software supports the Cisco OfficeExtend solution and enterprise wireless mesh.

That explains it and I should have remembered that as I have 2 5508s which can add more licenses and 4 4400s that are hard coded.
