I get a certificate error when logging into ccm admin , I remember seeing a method on here for adding additional hostname to the certificate through ssl
does anyone have that method?

Yes; use the set web-security command from the CLI.

There are couple ways to do it.
If your CUCM version supports "set web-security" command, you may specify the alternative name with the command. So the CSR will contain that attribute.
If your CUCM does not support that command, you may talk to your CA to add the alernative name into the certificate. For example, for Microsoft CA, when issuing the certificate, you may specify "SAN=DNS:alternativename.mycompany.com".
