Line Protocol problem?

Ethernet0 is up, line protocol is down
  Hardware is QUICC Ethernet, address is 0010.7bf2.3638 (bia 0010.7bf2.3638)
  Internet address is 193.1.1.4/24
  MTU 1500 bytes, BW 10000 Kbit, DLY 1000 usec, rely 128/255, load 1/255
  Encapsulation ARPA, loopback not set, keepalive set (10 sec)
  ARP type: ARPA, ARP Timeout 04:00:00
  Last input never, output 00:00:03, output hang never
  Last clearing of "show interface" counters never
  Queueing strategy: fifo
  Output queue 0/40, 0 drops; input queue 0/75, 0 drops

It is physical layer issue reliability is very low and Lost carrier denotes you have a bad cable or check the physical connections on both sides.

BTW, any luck with setting speed and duplex manually on both sides. ?

sorry forgot to say it is to connect to this ethernet port using cat5e cable.


The ethernet port setting from show interface command are :

Ethernet0/0 is up, line protocol is down
  Hardware is AmdP2, address is 0008.21d9.e1c0 (bia 0008.21d9.e1c0)
  Internet address is 192.168.1.1/24
  MTU 1500 bytes, BW 10000 Kbit, DLY 1000 usec,
     reliability 128/255, txload 1/255, rxload 1/255
  Encapsulation ARPA, loopback not set
  Keepalive set (10 sec)
  ARP type: ARPA, ARP Timeout 04:00:00
  Last input never, output 00:00:02, output hang never
  Last clearing of "show interface" counters never
  Input queue: 0/75/0/0 (size/max/drops/flushes); Total output drops: 0
