Cisco Netmanager 1.1

Hi,

I have just installed for the first time Netmanager 1.1 IP infrastructure + unified communications and I am trying to discover the WLC 5508 + APs, besides the cisco switches. I have configured SNMP on all devices and tested snmp using solarwinds so community strings and IP connectivity is all ok Netmanager is only able to recognize the Cisco 3750 switch. After trying also with hosts file - it still does not recognize the WLC - it gets listed as workstation and does not get any info through snmp...

Have a look at the supported devices table for your product at http://www.cisco.com/en/US/customer/docs/net_mgmt/cisco_netmanager/1.1_data/device_support/table/CnMds11.html . Checking it, it doesn't appear that NM1.1 supports the WLC 5508. The supported AP models are also listed there.

I believe this product is no longer sold and might not be supported. Reference: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/customer/products/ps9718/index.html

Hope this helps.

Hi thanks for your feedback, from link you posted it is clear that it does only support the old 4400 WLCs - I wonder if it is possible to make it recognise the new 5508 by entering the OID in the Netmanager database, I am trying to do so but so far with no luck.

It is not very clear if this product is end-of-life .. ? it seems the yearly subscription license only is end of life

Also is there a way to customize / re-layout the view of the network from Netmanager?

Sorry, it looks like this is another one of the dead ends in Cisco's fitful approach to network management. If it's anything like CiscoWorks (big assumption), you may be able to force fit a device in as a generic device type but you will only receive the most basic generic functionality managing it.

There's probably a recommended solution from Cisco but frankly, I can't tell from the network management products main page exactly what alternative Cisco is pitching for a replacement of the CNM 1.1 line (other than CiscoWorks LMS, which does support the WLC 5508: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/net_mgmt/ciscoworks_lan_management_solution/3.2/device_support/table/lms32sdt.html ). I'd suggest engaging your reseller or Cisco account team for alternatives.
