IP phone & data in one switch

Dear All,

I am designing a switch to deliver  the service for data and ip phone.

For example the odd number port of a switch  will be assigned for data

and the even number will be for IP Phone. Indeed, the each will have own vlan.

I come this solution due to cost wise, instead of having one  switch for data

and another sw for voice service.

I don't know whether Is it common practice?

Nope because this is an EXPENSIVE practice.

Modern VoIP phone have two data ports.  First data port goes from the phone to the LAN switch.  The second data port goes from the VoIP to the PC.

On your Cisco switch, you just configure  "switchport access vlan " and "switchport voice vlan ".

In my case, can I use a dedicated port for data only (port 0/1) and  second port for voice (0/2)?

Once I am doing this:

On your Cisco switch, you just configure  "switchport access vlan " and "switchport voice vlan ".

This will use 2 ports, right?

If you deliberately want to use one port for each, sure.  Just apply the configuration I've posted earlier to both ports.
