Solved: LOCAL Authnetication

I set the enable, http, and console authentication on an ASA5510 to LOCAL,but did not configure local users. Now I can't log into it with the original crendentials. Fortunately, I did not save the configuration to flash so I could always power-cycle the unit to recover the original configuration. Short of a power-cycle, how do I get back into it?

No, better configure internal users before LOCAL authentication this time.

If you power cycle the ASA and its back to its default settings, you can log in with pix/cisco as the user/password.

I know that . . . I wanted to know if there was another way to regain access without a power-cycle. Thanx!

Hi

AAA works only for telnet/ssh/http access to device.. but if you have a NMS console which can upload configurations to your firewall (like NCM), you can push configuration through SNMP.. you just need to have SNMP RW access to the device from your NMS console.. We push a lot of configurations through NCM, on SNMP and it works good..
