I was wondering about one fact ==> We are planning to upgrade from 122-18SXFx to 122-33SXI3.
The following link http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/switches/lan/catalyst6500/ios/12.2SX/release/notes/hardware.html#wp3032985 states that release 12.2(33)SXH or later requires switching module ROMMON version 12.2(18r)S1 or later for modules with DFC or CFC daughtercards .
My questions are :
- Does someone know why such a requirment ? What is the function of the ROMMON version for DFC/CFC modules ?
- Is it critical if we do not respect previous point ? Indeed I have noticed some chassis were in SXI but some DFC/CFC modules were in 12.2(14r)S5 without any issue.
- Besides requirments concerning DFC/CFC rommon and also memory requirments, do you know if there is other similar 'compatibilty' I have to pay attention on ? Does SUP720(-3B) rommon need to have a minimum version for SXI3 train ?
Any information about this would be appreciated.
Thanks a lot.
