IP Phone Messenger error - "You were trying to access...."

I am trying to configure the IPPM service on two phones: 7975 and IP Communicator but I'm getting the following message on both when I press the services button:

"Invalid Device

You were trying to access IP Phone Messenger service from a device not provisioned on Cisco CallManager server. Please work with your system administrator to get this device configured."

I am running CUCM 7.1.3 and CUPS 7.0.2 and I have completed the following steps:

1. Configured IP PhoneMSG service with CUPS in URL

2. Created "PhoneMessenger" application user and added IPC and 7975 phones in "Controlled Devices"

3. Associated end users with primary DNs on IPC and 7975 and configured end users with "Standard CTI Enabled" user group permissions.

4. Subscribed both phones with "IP PhoneMSG" service

The error is listed here:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/cups/7_0/english/ippm/user/user/guide_Frame7/ippmtrbl.html

..but doesn't offer any suggestions.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

-mike

What's the actual URL you configured?  Could you double-check and post it here?

Thanks!

Michael,

Sure, the URL is:

http://10.130.1.20:8081/ippm/default?name=#DEVICENAME#

Thanks,

-mike

The URL looks good.  It could be CSCsv97810.  Do you have special characters in the user ID?  This bug was fixed in CUPS 7.0.3 or later.  You should try upgrade to latest stable version 7.0.8.
