See the phone screen in web browser

Hi,

I knew about a link that would display the screen of a remote phone in my web browser.

But I have lost it.

Any one knows the link?

Some tips:

1) It's cAsE Sensitive!

2) The user you specify must be associated to the phone - error 4 means auth error, which could be password or not associated

3) Error 0 generally means mistyped URL..

Have tried IE8 and Firefox with the same result. Looking at the XML it looks as if it might be the browsers failing to interpret the XML? - any ideas?

Also can this work with Extension Mobility where the users will not be associated with the phones (guessing it will not).

Hi James

It is (adopting my best Cisco TAC voice) 'working as designed'.

The older model phones use a rather natty little format called CIP for images. That string of FF etc data is what the phones understands as an image.

Newer models return PNGs instead, which IE understands and will display (so 7941,42, 45, 75 etc, anything java-based).

You can convert the CIP data to a GIF using tools from the IP Phone Services SDK...

Does it work for CME as well? Also, any other link to control the phone as well (I know this is overwhelming while expecting this!)?

Well - yes, it is possible to control the phone, but not via IE easily. You need to post XML objects (CiscoIPPhoneExecute objects to be precise if you are looking at the IP Phone SDK) to the phone web server at http://phoneip/CGI/Execute, for example:

Would cause the phone to dial that number... it's all detailed in the SDK if you are interested in pursuing it.

Otherwise http://www.voipintegration.com/UCSoftware.aspx - these guys have a remote control based around these functions, it used to be free but now they want money. There is a trial though...

Ah - yes, the screen grab works on CME too... it's a function of the phone firmware.

The phone will authenticate the user ID you use against CME, so it would have to pass authentication there.
