Hi
Please note here we are not talking about the Fractional PRI E1 ( this is provided by the Service Provider).
In our case, we have a full 30 channel E1 PRI provided from the Service Provider. We would need to fewer channels on the 30 Channel PRI E1, that is, use only 10 bearer channels on the E1.
Please suggest.

Hi csshenoy80 ,
If you would like to split the E1 channels, use the below method. But am not sure if this works pacca.
In the example config below, We have split the 30 channels as 1-21 for Inbound and 23-31 for Outbound calling.
controller E1 6/7
framing NO-CRC4
pri-group timeslots 1-31
trunk-group XYZ_IN timeslots 1-21
trunk-group XYZ_OUT timeslots 22-31
description *** XYZ_INTERFACE ***
!
Alternatively, you could put some channels to "busy_out"
Please give a try . Hope it addressed your point
Thanks,
Gopi

Why you need fewer channels if you are paying for 30 from the SP ?

Hi
I have limited DSP resources on the voice gateway router. I need resources for conference, transcoding. By limiting the number of voice channels, i will be able to use these resources for these media resources.
Just exploring the options.

I really recommend you purchase the necessary DSP.
Othewrwise, just configure a smaller number of timeslots in pri-group, still starting from 1.
Even if telco not make changes on their side, things will work anyway.
