The upgrade is not that different from a regular box.

Upgrading from a Local Disk

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/partner/docs/voice_ip_comm/cucmbe/install/8_0_2/cmins802.html#wp360555

You'll need to order the upgrade kit via the PUT and also you'll need a new feature license for the version you're going to run.

CUC 8.X has an accept and relay feature, not sure if that's what you're looking for.

No, you cannot download this upgrade.

You need to go thru PUT to get the upgrade kit.

Ordering the Upgrade Media

To upgrade to Cisco Unified CM Release 8.0(2x) from a release prior to  8.0(1), use the Product Upgrade  Tool (PUT) to obtain a media kit and license or to purchase  the upgrade from Cisco Sales.

To use the PUT, you must enter your Cisco contract number (Smartnet,  SASU or ESW) and request the DVD/DVD set. If you do not have a contract  for Cisco Unified Communications Manager, you must purchase the upgrade  from Cisco Sales.

For more information about supported Cisco Unified CM upgrades, see the Cisco  Unified Communications Manager Software Compatibility Matrix at  the following URL:

thank you for the replay.

my question is not technical ( how : with local disk or ftp , or SFTP) but if  i make the upgrade , i will able to use the same previous configuration database. so, i know that the backup dosn't work whene we upgrade.

or if i install the 8.X in the inactive partition , and when i reload if the 8.X can share the same database.

the link in your replay doesn't work.

Hi Said,

Your current data will be migrated over to the new version during

the upgrade process There should be no need for a Backup/restore

to complete the migration.

Here is that link from Java that you should be able to see;

Cheers!

Hi Rob,

i hope you are doing fine.

the topic discuss when we need to upgrade ( applying a patch during a new installation).

in my case , i shoud download and creat the upgrade DVD from the  this 2 image: -

UCSInstall_UCOS_8.0.2.40000-1.sgn.iso_part1of2 and UCSInstall_UCOS_8.0.2.40000-1.sgn.iso_part1of2

after that i will use the upgrade from the : Cisco Unified Communications operating System , in Software Upgrade

is this correct ? in my case to upgrade from Business edition 6.1 (cisco uniy connection 2.1)  to Business Edition 8.X( cisco unity connection 8.X)

warm greetings
