Wireless Web Auth Redirect fails on IE

Unanswered Question

Having trouble with one of our wifi networks using Web Auth.

Running 5508 Wireless Lan Controllers.  Software version

WLAN has no L2 security, but utilizes L3 Web Auth via RADIUS (ACS server) for authentication to Active Directory.

This setup works great, but devices using Internet Explorer have a very hard time getting the redirected login page.  (

Firefox users get the splash screen right away.  IE users have to wait 1+ minutes (some even time out).

Has anyone else seen this?  If so, is there a fix?

I have this problem too.

Possibly CSCte55458 where web auth can fail under load on the WLC.  This is fixed in 7.0 or the 6.0 MR3-beta you can get from TAC.  The 6.0 code does have a software advisory against it, so you might want to think about 7.0 anyway. Also, do the IE machines have any proxy settings?  That can disrupt web auth as well.
