Hi All,

I've setup VG224 with 24 FXS ports. each port has attendant DN and also DN which can be assigned to that port. what's the difference between these two? I know in FXO port, attandant DN is similar to connection plar.

thanks

Alex

Hi

When you add the ports you get a choice of loop start/ground start or POTS - POTS is your friend; did you select one of the others?

Hi Alex,

For the VG224 the Attendant DN field can be left blank

It appears to be some sort of legacy/remnant left over from the VG200

days in reference to FXO Ports like you nicely noted. Here is a reference

that may help;

Does seem misleading, been a while since I've worked with a VG224.

I don't have one to test but from what I read and reviewed in a CUCM 8.x this happens when you have selected a MGCP FXS.

For FXS you need to choose:

POTS

Ground Start

Loop Start

The documentation doesn't explain this but apparently you need to use POTS for phones, the other 2 options are meant for trunk lines.

This to address a bug:

CSCse23808
CCMAdmin should support MGCP-controlled analog FXS GroundStart endpoints

But generated another bug to remove that attendant DN and avoid confussion

CSCtf22348
MGCP FXS GroundStart and LoopStart need Prefix DN; remove Attendant DN

So, apparently attendant DN under GS/LS is useless. What you need to use is prefix DN for PLAR from what I read.
