We have a Nexus5000 on which a few ports refuse to connect to my servers. I have verified that neither the 10GigE adapters, cables, nor the servers themselves are a problem: If I connect the same server to a different port on the same switch it seems to work fine.
What are the next steps for diagnosis? All ports are on a single private VLAN and we are using none of the advanced QoS or security features (this is a High Performance Computing Cluster). At the start we had pushed out identical configs on all ports.
Normally as soon as I connect the SFP the corresponding LED on the backplane turns green from Amber. But for these particular bad ports the LED's stay amber.I'm not a regular network admin so I apologise if I skipped any obvious troubleshooting steps. Are there any speicific Cisco Nexus docs that might be useful?
Also, is there a way to isolate if this is a Hardware or a software issue?
