5550 Management Interface routing traffic...

Unanswered Question

...I have a new pair of 5550's that I am putting on the network.  Once I heat them up, they will replace a pair of FWSM's in our 6K's.  I've duplicated the configuration from the FWSM's to the new ASA's and I have all the interfaces set to administratively down'.  However, when I enable the M0/0 interface, even though I have it set to 'management only" it starts attempting to route traffic, causing a loss of connectivity through the FWSM's.  I thought the management only setting would stop this.  What am I doing wrong?

I have this problem too.

Management-only means that it will still accept traffic for management purposes on that interface. It will not route traffic from the management interface towards other interfaces, and vice versa, however, the interface itself if it's part of your internal network, it will still accept management traffic (ping, telnet, ssh, http/https access towards the interface).

When you say that it's attempting to route traffic, what do you mean by that? As far as routing is concern, once the interface is enabled/up, it will still be accessible if it's part of your internal network.
