I saw some posts saying that it was on the roadmap to be implemented in 2008/9. Does anyone know if it is currently supported? If, not is it still planned?

I don't know about future plans, but according to the docuemntation this is not supported on the 7600 platform. A list can be found here:

To my knowledge VPN is only supported with the Cisco IPSec VPN SPA on the 7600. More details are listed here:
