Difference between jitter on G711 and G722

Hi All

I was doing an accepttest at a customer site and saw the following:

When doing a call from a CIPC to an external phone through SIP-trunk Codec G711 I had avgJitter about 3-6. But when doing a call between 2 CIPC in the company using G722 the avgJitter is around 160.

Can any one explain this difference. The network is Cisco, and setup with auto qos softphone. All network test also indicates no jitter.

I would imagine (guessing here though) that G722 is more computationally intensive that G711... do you see higher CPU usage on the laptop when using it?

If you use a more powerful machine, does this affect it?

The error was in the CIPC version. after upgrading to 7.0.4 the issue disappeared.
