UCCX 7.01 Enhanced to Premium

Unanswered Question

Hi,

Can someone confirm what is required to upgrade UCCX 7.01 from Enhanced License to Premium? I have the Premium license but am unsure whether this process requires a reboot or reinstalling CAD on Agent PCs.

Thanks

Rich.

I have this problem too.

Hello,

If you already had the upgrade license from Enchanced to Premium, you will need to upload the license file to server and after that you will need to reset the Cisco Node Manager service. That will drop all of the calls that handle by the CTI's and also logout all of your agents during that time the incoming calls will not work.

Thanks for reply Walter. Can you confirm if the Cisco Agent Desktop software will need reinstalling and if the server needs a reboot?

The CAD or CSD does not needs to be reinstall, but what it require its the restart of the "Cisco Node Manager" service that its pretty much like reboot the server.

Hi,

I have the same issue, i had upgrade my uccx server 7.1.SR4 to premium version and restart the CCX Engine then the CTI manager, but I can't log into the CAD.  After that i manually make a copy of the jtapi.jar file from CCX server to cisco\desktop\bin  of my computer  and  after that i could log into my CAD. I still not sure that is can resolve my issue for all my agent. So i try to click on the update tool from run>programs>cisco unified cxx adminitration.  I wonder if this update tool can automatically upgrade CAD? Do i need to reboot the call manager server?

Thanks in advance for your reply,

Pamela

Did upgrade. It does require the Agent software to be upgraded.

HI Pamela,

I didnt need to restart server but did need to upgrade Agent software. Maybe its a permissions issue on uprading software on PC? I certainly didnt reboot CUCM.

Walter, do you have a definitive answer on this? Was richb1971's experience simply an anomaly?  Upgrading all agent software obviously creates a much different maintenance timeline then simply restarting the Cisco Node Manager service after applying the Premium lic file. Any input appreciated!

Hello Rich,

The major changes between Premium and Enhanced is mostly on the server and not on CAD like IVR Ports feature becoming Advanced from Basic so we can use them for outbound dialling.

The feature's that i see change in Premium for CAD is the outbound buttons for outbound call control and email buttons for managing email in premium, which may get added in when you move to premium. If you see the 7.X SRND you will know what i am talking about. If you are planning to use outbound dailling or agent email capability. CAD may need to get upgraded. I have to still test this in lab. I have requested licenses for advanced 7.x, presently i have only premium ipcc 7.x lab. When i get adv. license and test this in lab i will update you. You are also welcome to open a SR for this.

If you are going to Premium soon for email and outbound capability and don't have time to wait for my response you can ask the domain admin to login as local admin on all the agent pc's immediately after upgrade so CAD or CSD should update automatically on agent and supervisor login.
