DMP Failover Question

Hello

I read about dmp failover it, and taking into practice the dmp enters on failover stage 1 fase, but it delays about 30 minutes to enter this mode once I drop down the connection towards the DMM. (The recovery timeout is configured to 120000 ms) (document added)

The recovery and failover url are pointing to the same local storage file.

The questions about this are:

1- should it take that time to show the local file (30 minutes)?,

2- how much time it should take to go off from failover stage? once the dmm connection is restablished.?

3- I'm taking wrong any concept for failover?

PS: picture attached about dmp failover

Carlos,

What version of DMP firmware are you running?

What model of DMPs are you seeing this?

Do you have NTP configured or enabled?

There are some issues in DMP failover and are known and

being worked on or resolved in the upcoming DMP release.

T.

As I know, You need to reboot DMP to get out of Failover mode.

HI,

I'm facing some issues with the failover as well.

Here is the status mib:

http.recover_timeout    T_LONG    500
http.recover_url    T_STRING    file:///tmp/ftproot/usb_1/deployment/xTAS-core/appgen/clad/http_pull_282_clad_274_.htm
http.failover_tries    T_LONG    1
http.failover_timeout    T_LONG    2000
http.failover_url    T_STRING    file:///tmp/ftproot/usb_2/deployment/xTAS-core/appgen/clad/http_pull_337_clad_280_.htm
http.failover_on    T_LONG    1

In order to test the failover functionality i'm doing the following:

I'm scheduling a presentation for 20 mins.

The presentation eventually initiates and during the playback(http streaming of the video file withing the presentation) i'm renaming the asset that is used in the presentation, thus creating a 404 HTTP status code.

This results in a black screen on the lcd but the failover never begins.

I can verify that both the recovery/failover urls are valid and present within the internal storage  and usb of the dmp.

Any suggestions here?

Thanking you

You can use the "Video Failover and Recovery" settings

on the DMP-DM web configuration.  Use a failover URL

to the video that is stored on DMP.

ie.  file:///tmp/ftproot/usb_1/deployment/content/failover.mpg

I have tested this and it works.

I hope this help!

Hi Tomas,

So it's advisable (best practise) to use a video file instead of a playlist (.html) as a failover ?

The Failover you choose should be based on your

content and your desired failover results.

You can choose either HTTP or Video Failover or Both.

It just depends on your content that you intend to use and

that will determine the conditions of the failover.

Hi,

I'm resuming this conversation because i'm still struggling to get the failover option to work!

First of all, is annoying enough that you find the Failover configuration in the DMP Gui  under two categories, Browser and Video Configuration!

Which one must be configured? Or maybe is it both of them?

Second, i have uploaded a local video file which i can confirm that is reachable, playable from the DMP ( since i can play this from "Play this video file locally"). When it comes to failover, it never starts, either in stage-1 or even in stage-2.

Can anyone provide me with some feedback?

Thank you
